This project expands and redefines an existing 1100 sq.ft. 50's ranch house, adding 1650 sq.ft., with a new relocated kitchen, master and guest suites, family room and a studio. The design overcomes conflicting objectives; maximizing lake views, connections to the exterior and seasonal solar heat gain, while also establishing privacy and avoiding overheating during the summer. To accomodate a restrictive budget, improvements have been made incrementally, starting with minimal and unfinished interiors and a single skin exterior.
